Hi! I need some advice, please. I'm interested in coming to China, and possibly to Shanghai. I've already got job offers from some English schools and they are ready for me to come over. I'm ready, too. The problem is my boyfriend wants to come with me and work also, but he's not qualified to be a teacher, he doesn't have a degree or much professional experience outside of restaurant work and customer service. We were hoping he could come in and maybe work "under the table" as a chef or at a hostel or a private English conversation partner. Are there many people that do this? Would it be possible for him to find cash in hand jobs in Shanghai that don't require working papers? Please email me at chelsefina@gmail.com. Thanks!

Hi Trista! DingDong introduces you to me. I've got an Email from you, but it was no-reply letter. So I don't know if our activity of May "Shikumen Tour" got published or not. Anyway, keep in touch! shdreamkidland@126.com 15001762895 Yingni Li

Hi Trista, Thanks so much for the comment about An Afternoon of Fairy Tales! Nanmo is short for Nanyang Model School. Thank you for pointing that out. I should make that more clear in the advertisement.

Hey

150rmb includes lunch by Nar Cafe.

Hi, which of the two events posted (Photography Crash Course or Learning to Read Better) you want to know the price?

Hi trista, im Marvyn from NEXT salon located in Hyatt on the bund, thanks for your comments and we deeply appreciate it! Im a colourist expert on foreigners hair and im sure i would do a great job this time round if you are interested to come!

The fact is that he could have just apoligized nicely. However his way of behaving is really far beyond satisfaction. Discrimination might be a little too harsh. But he definitely didn't take us that seriously that night. Otherwise, my friend and I wouldn't be so pissed off. Anyway, like i have said, if the manager had behaved better, things wouldn't have gone so bad. He definitely didn't know how to treat his irritated customers. After all, the misunderstanding orginated from their marketing error. If this had happened in France, i think their restaurant would have gone serious problems cuz french people won't let go of such a mistake so easily.

Hi, i saw ur post on Jean Georges. My friend and I were attracted by their half-priced cocktail event every Wed. I made a phone call to Jean Georges and asked about the price of a champagne cocktail after discount. Their employee told me that it was about 30 or 40 RMB. So we think it's not expensive. So we decided to go there. We arrived there around 21h00. It hadn't started yet. But the server let us sit and order anyway. We told him that we came for the special event and wanted to order champagne cocktails. So he presented us with a special menu. He didn't tell us anything that the price on this special menu is after discount!!! And the price listed on it is 88 RMB. If you do the simple maths calculation, 44 RMB(the half price we had thought of) matches the price the server told me in the phone call. But in the end, we have to 88 RMB for one cup of cocktail because they said it was the half price. But merdre, there is no place on the menu indicating that the price is not the original one. So you can see they are really misleading their customers!!! And actually they did make a mistake in their marketing. After all, the mexican manager didn't even listen to us and appeared to be so impolite and rude. He didn't even confess that it was their mistake and didn't even say a "SORRY" sincerely. He offered to pay for us but he didn't realize that they did something wrong. So you can see that he discriminated chinese people there. A restaurant is successful not just because of its food and delicious wine but rather because of its people and its spirit deep inside. Jean Georges is definitely not a place to go for the good of your soul.

shanghai editor.so r u working for a magazine?

Hi! Did you announce the winner of the Thanksgiving dinner? Some pretty good and entries to choose from there Trista! Some entrants appeared to go to a huge effort. Am glad I don't have to decide.

Hi Trista,
Yes it is the correct date for the Charles Melton / Mr. Riggs wine dinner. It is in the private room at Jean Georges. If you need anymore info, please email me on shanghai@montrose.com.hk

Victoria
