Spain Pavilion

Expo Site

Open 9:30am-10:30pm

City Weekend says

Traditional materials fuse with new materials and the East merges with the West in the construction of this steel and wicker “basket.” The wicker canopy, traditionally used by both China and Spain, is hand woven by Spanish artisans and embellished with Chinese calligraphy. By day, the pavilion’s auditorium serves as a stage for cultural events including flamenco, dances, Latin and Spanish music and exhibitions. When night falls, sit back and enjoy a gastronomic cabaret where visitors take pleasure in music, dance and theatre performances while feasting on Spanish cuisine. There's also a decent but expensive tapas bar.

The building is different. The exhibit explores the senses. It is quite a long wait in line, as they all are. The introduction with the dance performance and video projection on the walls of horses gets you amped up for excitement, and then you are led into a room filled with history clips. Finally the Giant baby, which is quite amusing. Too bad they didn't design the feet move too ;-) It really is quite remarkable.

The first part and second part are both moovies and both about Spain. and the last part THE BABY...

In the 2 first part in the content, it is certainly a little bit stereotype but one it is weel done, with good transition and then the channel with screen in both side is very well done, impressive. The second room give a huge feeling of space (you will not feel claustrophobic there) and try to give a dynamic image of Spanish people with an emphazise for generation and diversity...

The the best part (ot not). The HUGE BABY...I didn't know before to enter and was totally astonish. I am not able to give it any meaning but definitly you should go and see it + Aside there are a few little cartoon moovie telling the story of baby ...Trying to give in a very imaginative and funny way an image of a modern (ideal ?) Spain from family, school, work, environment...

Spain Pavilion is fantastic. Concept, sound design, visuals, animation is interesting and engaging. Rough around some edges of the presentation but thoroughly enjoyable.

The opening and closing of this pavilion are pretty good. But now that I recall, that's all there was--an opening and closing. Yes, the giant baby is creepy and worth seeing. Yes the opening flamenco thing is pretty intense. The four hour wait to get in--not so great. Also, the restaurant is wildly overpriced for what you get. The seafood paella was mediocre.

Absolutely beautiful to look at from the outside - organic looking. Long lines. I have heard that there was nothing all that great inside.

Very much enjoyed the visual arts show and humongous robotic baby. The best pavilion (of three) I visited during my first day at Expo.
