This is the bar on the sixth floor of Maison Pourcel, one of the high-end French restaurants in town. This classy yet shameless bar always has the top tunes pumping, setting the tone for a high energy evening. Their infamous ladies nights have plenty of bubbly, shirtless barmen and manicures for chicks while Fridays champagne night is a solid pre-game. The terrace is a great escape from the buzzing bar. Overall a hopping spot.

One of our favourite places to hang out. Also Sugar has the best girls only night in the Shanghai; Les friendly so if you're looking for likeminded girls or you just enjoy experiment (a great place to kissing with other girls without a crowd of men getting in the way), see you Wednesdays at Sugar. Oh, and for those who are not yet in the mood for girl only fun, they have shirtless barmen roaming the floor at your service. ;-)
Ate the three-course set lunch at Sugar earlier this month with a friend. We ordered different appetizers, mains, and desserts, and each one was fantastic. The service was among the most professional and attentive I have had in Shanghai. I returned last weekend to try the set brunch, and both the food and service were again stellar. Definitely plan on returning in the future for food and to check out the happy hour.
Went here once during ladies night. Nice environment, outdoor lounge is something different. On not too hot night its good to have the option to go and lay on a giant bed/sofa. Would definitely go back.
I'd have to say that Sugar has one of my favorite Ladies' Nights here in Shanghai. (And, man, I've been to way too many of them!)
Nice atmosphere. The servers and bartenders were all very attentive, helpful, and pleasant. (One of the big selling points for me! I hate bad service!) And, shirtless bartenders? Come on, what's not to love?
I'm not sure if I'd come here for anything other than drinks again, though.Their drinks were pretty good and the few I tried didn't hold back too much on the liquor. The free drinks were just so-so, but they still blow other free drink nights out of the game.
Bathrooms were gorgeous. The view was nice. The crowd was very friendly and interesting.

I've been in town for a few months, and I am always reading other people's comments to get ideas of where to go, and now I feel I should contribute something haha. I don't know many people here, and after work I like to wind down with a drink or two. I like this studiobar because I can comfortable enjoy a drink to myself without music blasting in my ear, or guys trying to hit on me just because I'm alone in a bar. I hope to find other places similar to this one, until then, cheers!
Having lived in Shanghai for a substantial amount of time, I've noticed that there are few bars where they offer a wide range of liquors and competency in creating cocktails with them. I'm not a heavy drinker, and I'm not some sort of booze connoisseur, but I can tell the difference between a well-crafted drink and something thrown together according to a bartender's handbook. Studio Bar does right by their drinks, and I'll be back for more.i do like STUDIOBAR.
Great environment, nice design, superb toilets. With good season coming Studiobar terrace might become one of our regular afterwork drinking spot. Reasonable price, especially during daily happy hours (buy 1 get 1 free) from 5pm. Tried a bit of their food and felt quite enthusiastic about it: assortments of snacks, cheeses, cold cuts for sharing. Definitely one of the places to b this spring.
Went there last night, immediately had a very low-key, local feel... The hostess was so accommodating, we initially wanted to sit outside, but then once we realized how chilled it was, they moved us inside- no fuss, no dirty looks, no problem. The decor is very casual chic; based on white walls, candles, and dim lighting. We enjoyed those 2 hours with attentive service, euphonious tunes, also stylish cocktails. The desserts too, did not disappoint. French Hot chocolate?
Great service, very nice place, great quiet terrace, very good food with good value.. The bar is also nice, quite packed for their successful ladies nights on weds..And contrary to a lot of place, you can actually speak there..
Just a small details, i didnt expect to be drinking Ballantine's in this kind of place.
