This is the second location for Shanghai's Belgian beer specialists. Look out for its beer-of-the-month promotions, which feature cheap deals on real Trappist ales and specialty beer. The outside space makes a tranquil hideaway.
- Contributor Description
Kaiba’s second location is a great spot for those who want something more than a warm bottle of Tsingtao with their beer nuts. This Belgian bar features more than 50 imported bottled brews. They’re shipped in not just from Belgium but beer-loving nations around the world. They also serve up draft Stella and Vedett in an atmosphere that feels sophisticated, yet relaxed and unpretentious. The high ceilings, exposed brick and candlelight give the place a certain sense of cool, but the big news here is that there’s a beer garden in an enclosed courtyard out back. It's a huge space with room for 50-100 people to stand around and enjoy the main pull of this spot: the beer. Smith’s Imperial Stout (¥60), Delirium Nocturnum (¥60) and our favorite, Rogue Dead Guy Ale (¥35), were all served by cheerful, English-speaking bar staff who certainly know how to pour.

No comment on the food/beer as I hear it is of good quality but I did call to ask whether they accepted American Express at the Dingxi Lu location and the first person answering the phone could not answer my question as she did not speak Chinese-fair enough-so I asked in my basic Chinese to speak to someone who spoke English. The gentleman who came on said he did not know and when I attempted to ask another question he kept on repeating he did not know and promptly hung up on me! When in Rome? or should I expect better service?

Dear dlrtn012,
At all of our locations our Happy Hours have been the same. We will make sure all our staff know this and follow it... when you stop in next time let me know.
Cheers! Again we are sorry for causing the issue.
Kaiba Happy Hour - Times
Monday to Friday 4 to 9 pm Saturday and Sundays - Until 7 PM ( anytime before 7 )

Beers were nice, kind of pricey tho. They have HAPPY HOUR: Weekdays, 4-9pm, Weekends 2-7pm, discounted prices on all beers and drinks
When last time we went there with my firends, they cheated us ; the happy hour finished at 7pm on friday. We were confused and didn't say anything. When I checked on the website, I realized the staff no the owner lied to us.

the staff at this location are really friendly. the outdoor space isnt the best but i guess if you love beer you'll love kaiba.

Went there last night with a few co-workers for drinks. The drinks are good as always, however, the food took quite a long time to arrive. We have to keep going up to the bar to ask for our food. 3 people got their food, the other 2, have to wait for another half an hour for their. Total time waited for food was over an hour.. get your act together guys. I don't think it's ever acceptable to wait that long for 2 grill cheese sandwiches.

KAIBA tries to attract customers by serving a triple for 35/40 Rmb and pretends it's a bargain at Cityweekend site. Disgraceful. How lovely....

Dear bkyahoo - We are very sorry to hear you had such a bad experience. We will look to correct the situation immediately. Please feel free to contact us directly via events.kaiba@gmail.com for a reimbursement. Kaiba Management
we went on saturday morning for waffle brunch which was aweful...the service was very poor. the waiter who served us looked uphappy as hell ! we would not suggest anyone to go for breakfast unless you enjoying thowing your money away.

Not really a place to go for food, but it tastes good. The main attraction is of course the beer selection - and with a reasonable happy hour and monthly specials it's nice to expand your horizons while you decrease your field of vision here.

Nice place with fantastic choice of beers!

was in there on sat night, OK food, good beer, manager was straight up, very good service, decent outdoor space for the summer, only negative is that it isn't that big inside so when we got there at 11pm there was nowhere to sit down, but that's all. I would say it's probably the best local(ish) pub for the gubei/hongqiao crowd

Fancy yourself a beer lover. Make a stop at Kaiba. While the atmosphere is lacking when it's not live music night, it's still pleasant. The Veddet Extra White draft can't be beat for 40rmb. And if you want to try something special ante up for a Delirium Tremens! Well, that's my two-cents worth.
A bit cold inside but warm decor just right for a Belgian beer. Monthly specials are a good deal. Kriek is not my favourite but the lighter peach beer was palatable and sweet.

Went there for dinner on a wednesday night about 2 weeks ago. Had the mac & cheese, I really liked it and the service was spot on, about a 15-20 min wait for the food.
However the one weird thing was that I asked for a Stella Artois and the waiter told me that this was only available during happy hour. Thought this very strange so asked him again, and got the same answer, so I shrugged my shoulders and asked for something else.
