Ah, I see. That sucks. Star rate them down when you comment! (and get a lawyer)

I got the terms in writing, however, it is up to them to interpret the terms to their advantage. On top of that, they will say the amount is too small, and so they won't pay me the interest they owed me due to late return of my return deposit.

You didn't get your terms in writing? Silly. I suggest you star rate this place to make your hate more visible to other potential victims.

The service did not improve at all, after many false promises even from the GM. Everything is interpreted to their advantage. My rent deposit had to be recalculated a couple of times after we objected and point out to them the terms in the lease agreement. And they have no recollection of the terms agreed upon. We notified the GM that we will be moving out on a certain date, so her staff showed up on the day, without being told that we re handing over the apt, and hence he was unprepared.
What a bunch of crappy, unprofessional people! And they have the cheek to claim that they provide professional service. On the very contrary!

I totally agreed with all of you here. This company is extremely good in telling lies and taking advantages of its customer. They will misinterpret the lease agreements unless you are ready to have good lawyer to deal with them. DO NOT SIGN THE LEASE WITH THEM.

Thanks for thre advice, Myalgee! I will carefully consider all my options, and I will not stop to publicise their unethical way of managing their business.
@vtsvts : I hear you. My husband and I were also a victim when we used CityLife to get our first apartment in Shanghai. Wait till you ask them back for your deposit. Better get a good lawyer!

I couldn't agree with 1009Shanghai more! Be very very careful! Unprofessional staff. My apartment had a burst water pipe within 2 weeks of my moving in. The water level was about 6 inches tall and there was no follow up by Citylife. The walls became mouldy and the flooring damage. We kept calling them to get it fixed. But there was always a lot of excuses, including can't paint the inside of a house uring rainy days... Ha! After more drilling the Asst General manager agreed that the maintenance guy was busy with some other place.
And Guess what they did? Put a transparent tape over the damage flooring and kitchen cabinets to 'fix' it. I pity the owners who put their properties into the hands of such unprofessionally run company. We have to keep calling their maintenance staff, who decides to show up 2 hours and then disappear for a few days most of the time. I even called the Asst General Manager to complain. But situation did not improve.
Af first, I did not ask for rent or move out because I thought it was just bad luck for this to happen to me. But since then until now, more than 1 month later, I am seriously contemplating taking legal action.

Be aware of this company. Once you sign the lease agreement they will do nothing for you again or try to misinterpret what you agreed upon. Their staff work very unprofessional.
Try to avoid signing lease agreements with them.
Thanks - they are not even 1 star...
