After returning from 10 years in New York, owners Jack and Chu set up this great little salon, which does manicures (RMB58), pedicures (RMB88) and waxes (RMB188 for Brazilians, RMB38 for eyebrows). In a city where a pedicure can run you nearly RMB200, this is a welcome and welcoming spot.

Run by a lovely couple Jack and Chu, who have been in NY for the past ten years and decided to come back home!
It really shows that they've had quality training - the certificates are on the wall for a start including licenses by NY State to say they can wax and do nails, and it's by far the best mani/pedi I’ve had in Shanghai!
They offer a quality service that I for once trust, not more dirty tools or girls from the countryside saying they’re experienced. A standard mani is 58RMB and a standard pedi is 88RMB. A Brazilian waxing is 188RMB and an eyebrow wax is 38RMB.
If you give them at least 24 hours notice they can arrange a pick up within a 5 mile radius and they also offer free secured parking.
Oh they also do blokes too!!

Hi! Visited their new shop today right across from Exit 2 of Dapuqiao Metro stop on line 9. I usually go to them for a Pedicure & eyebrow wax but today as an anniversary surprise for the hubby I got my first Brazilian ( in Shanghai that is). Chu was great and gave me enough breathers to get through it! The new place is great because the waxing room is small & more enclosed so it feels more private & of course it is easier to find, accessible & the prices are still very reasonable. Jack & Chu are great and their experience & genuine love for what they do speaks for itself. Highly recommended!!!

I went for the first time today and had a great experience - they paid special attention to my poor toe where a nail had fallen off. Clean, good products, good pricing and super customer focus! I brought my 6 year old daughter with me and they were so attentive and patient with her and her various demands - they really pampered her. It is small so call in advance to make sure they can fit you in.
This is by far the best wax and nail salon in Shanghai. I have been doing to Chu and Jack for the past year and would rate them a 5+++++. I am a native New Yorker, so have been pretty high standards - and they are spot on. I have tried many other salons here, and nothing compares. Their prices are extremely reasonable, especially for the level of service and expertise you receive.
Their waxing is quick, efficient, painless - and same price for brazilian as bikini. No haggling over how much you pay for how much you want off like at Ministry of Waxing or the waxers not understanding you. She uses imported wax, and you can tell.
Their manis/pedis are how they should be done - soak, scrub, cuticle, razor, file, exfoliate, base coat, 2 coats, top coat. They use all the latest colors (OPI, etc) and again high quality products. They recently came back to Shanghai after 10 years in NY, including running their own salon. Their salon is very clean and efficient - and they hold themselves to American standards. Their English is great, in addition to their service. (I even saw someone come in who got a pedi a few days ago that chipped and they quickly fixed it for no charge).
Chu and Jack love their business. On top of that, they are some of the nicest, friendliest, sweetest Chinese people I have met in Shanghai - I love hearing their stories of Shanghai, and their times in NY. You will look forward to your visits to Chu and Jack. lauren
Went yesterday after reading all of the review. No disappointment. Excellent service! Very satisfied.
My standards are really high towards Brazilian wax treatment, as in Amsterdam this was done by brazilian lady who I considered as the best. Since I'm here I tried to find a good substitute. But only disappointments! Till I found out about American Nail. Chu is an absolute pro!!! She is the best of Shanghai! And the prices are also really good. I can also recommend the manicure/pedicure. Chu and Jack, her husband, are the most lovely couple I've ever met in Shanghai. Forget all the luxurious Spa saloon. With Jack and Chu, the treatments are the LUXURY. Except for their great treatments, it is also nice to be there just for fun and good peptalk! Thank you Jack and Chu, just for being there!!!!

Back in Canada, I was a “gel nail” addict, and because of their professionalism, no need for the hard chemical stuff, my nails are perfect all the time. They use real OPI and import all of their products from the States. No need to mention their waxing; impossible to find this in Shanghai.

This place is the greatest! Chu and Jack are the loveliest couple and do a really great job. Super friendly and very comfortable. They have great customer service and will pick you up if you are close by or can't find the spot. I highly recommend them! Danni
I decided to try this place after reading reviews. I must say I felt like I was back in the States when I went in! The owners lived in NY and definitely make sure they brought high standards to Shanghai.
Chu (the owner) was very careful with my nails and made sure I was happy with the color/shape etc. Plus she even re-did a couple nails when she said there was a bubble (i didn't even notice).
The BEST part must be the waxing!! The Brazilian was as quick and pain-free as possible and you can't beat the price at 188 RMB. I've tried many other more expensive nail/spas and they are pale in comparison. And she doesn't make you feel uncomfortable at all.
Plus it started raining and Jack (the owner) even gave me a ride home!
America Nail & Spa is quick and efficient and reasonably priced-by far the best place I've found in Shanghai. I'm definitely coming back and bringing friends.

This salon is the best in town. They have friendly service and the owners Jack and Chu are so sweet. They take care of you really well. I am for sure going back to get my eyebrows waxed. I love the whole atmosphere and the people are great. They use OPI and Essie just like the states. They are from the states they just moved back from New York. I highly recommend them.
