Acclaimed as "China's No. 1 Circus World," this venue can easily be spotted thanks to its conspicuous golden superdome. With top-notch acoustics, an advanced computer-controlled lighting system, 1,600 seats, a motorized, revolving stage and 1,500 sq. meters of stables for elephants, tigers and many other creatures, it's fully equipped to put on a real show.

As an adult, there are two main reasons why I would go to the circus. The first reason would be to see people performing amazing feats. Feats that shouldn’t be possible and would put that time you gloated for two days about catching that coffee mug between your knees to shame. The other reason would be to witness raw danger. As a live show and especially with stunts with no safety nets or harnesses, the risk of injury or even death is both apparent and possible. While no one ever wishes there to be an accident, the fact that it could happen is enough to keep all eyes firmly fixed on the performance at hand.
ERA performed at the Shanghai Circus World successfully delivers on both counts. The mix of performances included in the show range from humorous acts that question your own understanding of the laws of physics to stunts that will make even the hardiest of hearts skip a beat. Although one or two performances may be similar to others you may have already seen (there are only so many ways you can contort a body), the variation, style and flow of the 18 act show is enough to keep you very entertained throughout. ERA also differentiates itself from other circuses through the extra effort and attention put into the small details such as the detailed costumes, the live music, and choreography of the acts.
Tickets are relatively easy to purchase and the cheaper seats are more than adequate to view the entire show. Highly recommended for families and couples.
