It's hard to go wrong at this sleek-yet-affordable Taiwanese eatery, usually filled at all hours with southern expats craving a taste of home. Waiters maneuver swiftly through the sunlit dining room, doling out authentic favorites like shrimp with cruellers or mountains of shaved ice topped with sweet beans and mango.

went there last night with three friends, one of them was taiwanese. overall, the food was good but not great. the portions are small (35rmb dish enough for 1 person size), so i don't really agree with the affordable, but it's lujiazui...
the sushi rolls are good though. overall, i think they survive because they're in pudong and the lunch crowd is good, but the food is not spectacular by any means.

New location In Lujiazui - DBS building, next to Gran Melia on Lujiazui Ring Road. 3-cup chicken was close to perfect barbecue flavor, shrimp crullers with pineapple had a refreshingly light mayo sauce and the dragon bean stir fry was a welcomed change of vegetable with just the right level of garlic seasoning. We had to try the noodles with minced pork and peanut sauce and only bemoaned that there was not even more pork and the sate-like sauce over the noodles. The generous serving of the pork-fried dumplings pushed us over the edge and we could not fit any dessert into this very reasonably priced dinner (RMB200) - next time. Not being experts in Taiwanese cooking we can't judge the authenticity of the preparation or selection, but it sure tasted good!! The decor is modern-functional and slightly stylish and the service was amongst the best in Shanghai - very attentive, efficient and friendly.

I'm guessing that the waitress grooming standards - Vulcan-esque haircuts, coupled with red or blue sashes connoting rank or assignment - is a low-key tribute to Star Trek, but I could be wrong. Anyway, there are a few chains in town that I am particularly partial too and this is one of them. The new Lujiazui branch is especially nice. Today I saw two red-sash units (engineering?) scramble to pick up a napkin that someone dropped on the floor. The place was gleaming. I like the noodle dishes and the mango shave-ice the best, but this place has something for everyone.

I go here regularly and you can't beat the efficient service and reasonably priced good food. I particularly like the gong bao ji ding (chicken).
