This Mediterranean eatery features a selection of 130 wines and jazz performance on the weekends. With a convenient location on Sinan Lu, this is a nice little restaurant to enjoy some fusion food, a glass or two of vino and perhaps, even a good cigar afterward while drifting away with the music.

Was at The Brick restaurant yesterday.....Horrible experience! Good wine n food...but the jazz singer was obnoxious to say the least...incidentally minor distraction from my I pad was too much for her to warrant a 2 minute rant instead of a polite request to turn it off..despite our apologies...she had the audacity to tell us to go elsewhere if we cannot enjoy her lame ass singing. So if u r planning to go there, which I would strongly warn against, please maintain absolute silence...or else, u will have to hear "head mistress Etta James's" rant regardless of the fact u r paying her paycheck.

nice quiet place for a romantic dinner. nice ambiance.

i headed there for my dinner after dropping by hoF Dessert & Wine Lounge (it was just right beside hoF). i was greeted by friendly staffs upon entering the restaurant. the ambience was fantastic! very elaborated decorations. it was a casual dining place but i felt like i was at a fine dining place instead. my friend and I chose to sit at the bar area because we were planning to sip some wine as other seats were kinda dark.
they have this menu board (the day's specials) moving around the restaurant and it took them some time before it reaches me. i ordered the sword fish dish which was delicious! the portion was reasonable. the sword fish was quite a big slab! coupled with cucumbers and something which resembles mash potatoes. but who cares...i didn't want to talk to my buddy who was also exclaiming how nice his piece of pork dish was...i was just concentrating on wolfing that slab of sword fish into my tummy! the wine we ordered made our dinner a perfect one.
the service were superb. i was greeted when i enter and was bade farewell when i leave. it was money well spent for the dining experience last night. highly recommended for my friends to drop by again and would probably go hoF-ing which was just beside Bricks. it was a one-stop place for good food! :) what else can you ask for?

went for the 1st time at the weekend and thought the food was very good, my steak, mash and veg were all just right, and the starter of deep fried mozarello was spot on, usually they come so thickly coated in breadcumbs, but not this time.
the only downside was that we were got sat near the stage and though the singer and pianist were good, it was a bit loud, to hold a conversation, so try and get a table further from the stage is my advice.

Nice romantic place to take a date or casual dinner with some friends. Great atmosphere, prices and quality of food. I love when they have Jazz (I think on Friday & Sat nights) The only problem I have is that there service is terrible when they get really busy. Otherwise give Brick a try on a weekday.

I am not a great fan of Western restaurants in Shanghai; most of them continiously disqiualify themselves till they close down.
Brick is different; after tried 2 x set lunch; Their service is attentive and kind. Food is above par, an extended winelist is inviting, combined with a nice environment, enjoyable.

Brick,I love you!Been there last night again-and it was great, great, great!Food excellent as usual, service so good!...A special thanks to You, Mark:)) And Piano performance was amazing....I will always go there-my favorite place)) THANK YOU,BRICK!Please, don't change))

Sorry, forgot to write, that if you booked a table, they give you 20% discount for food(not for the drinks). For three persons we've spent just 700!and as u can see at my review-appetizer+main course+dessert each person;))

Just been at Brick yesterday for the first time.Fantastic! We've try trio tuna tartare (scallop, tuna, salmon)in three different ways....(mmmmmm......)...and Portobello mushroom with crab meat for appetizer(so,so good). We also ordered cheese plate including swiss emmental, danish blue cheese, french brie and spanish cheese.Went great with hot, fresh oven baked little breads. For the main course-special of the day-tuna steak with scallops and pineapple tartare and another one-Duck leg confiture with duck liver and vegetable ratatoille..All together with a bottle of Chablis-nothing to say more.We finished our dinner with hot chocolate cake with vanilla ice-cream(i dont remember, when i have try so great chocolate cake, like that one....we want to lick the plate....)and apple tart(also hot) on the top with Bayleys ice-cream...I really ,really recomend it!.... We stayed at Brick some more,to listen live jazz, and it was super good. I gonna come back there very soon, when my boyfriend will be here, and my friends, who were with me,will come back there again.Great place, thank you very much!!!Please, don't change!

Super lunch menu at great prices!! Where else can you get an excellent bottle of red wine for under RMB 200! Great service, warm and cozy ambiance. One point though, the staff should turn on the heat around 10:00am so the place is warm enough for the lunch crowd. I am looking forward to going again, and again... especially as the weather turns warmer.

Stellar performance. Firstly we were impressed by the menu - just the right variety without overwhelming you with options. Set menu option as well as ala carte. Then we were told that we would get 20% off food, because we booked, as an opening special - needless to say we were stoked. The wine list also had a good balance of cheaper wines with better quality as well. We had the venison and the Angus beef and both exceeded in quality compared to some more upmarket places on the Bund. The pumpkin ginger and crab meat soup was a winner. The SCALLOPS!! OH THE SCALLOPS!! Have I never had you sweet scallops before!! Thick, juicy and oh so succulent. Another winner. Topped up with attentive service and good wine. The only drawback was the less inspiring dessert menu, but that might be because on the way in we were seduced my next door Hof's sweet offerrings. Overall, definitely recommended.

New Eats | Pleasant Pairings
We visited this new restaurant on the weekend to catch some live jazz and relax with some Mediterranean fare. We dined on roast Moroccan chicken (RMB118), a half chicken expertly spiced with tumeric, garlic and paprika, that dripped with flavorful juices while retaining a crispy skin. Sides of diced, roasted pumpkin and crisp, romaine entangled in prosciutto and covered in Caesar dressing pleased our eyes and tastebuds.
Our attendants suggested a Santa Maria Sauvignon Blanc (¥120) from an extensive 10 page wine list with wines priced from ¥96 to ¥500. The wine was well-balanced with a touch of citrus, a good compliment to the bleu, Swiss, Camembert and Manchego cheese from our cheese platter (¥98). Judy’s Delight (¥78) was a complete surprise: the chef flash-seared succulent pieces of salmon, caramelizing the fish while a spicy, citrus marinated daikon radish offset the candy-coated pesce.
After finishing a serving of slightly dry mango-topped rum and raisin toffee pudding (¥32) in toffee and crème anglaise sauce, we joined the crowd in the bar area for a bit of live jazz. We felt that the food was relatively tasty, but pricey for what you get.
