IIRC it's not even a Tairyo any more, but was sold to some other owners who pretend it's Tairyo when asked.
I don't know if there are any real Tairyos left in town anymore....

Horrible! Don't go there! The service is terrible, the staff unfriendly, the food was half cooked, the toilets sooo dirty. And they have increased their price to 190rmb: sooo not worth it!

I have been in Shanghai for over 10 years and this restaurant is so far the WORST place I have eaten at.
I have surely been to these all-you-can eat Teppanyaki before but this is absolutely awful. They have changed the price to RMB 160,- per person - think of it - do you seriously think they can serve you good food for that price...impossible.
There Fish is not fresh at all - they use cheapest you can buy and it has nothing to do with Japanese food at all. All other small appetizers taste really bad and all meat dishes they cook they use the cheapest beef/lamb you can buy at the local market.
Beers are not even cold and theri sake is taste horrible...served burning hot...btw.
Chefs, ambience and service is terrible.
Stay away from this place and find better options in town - remember one thing - these all-you-can eat Teppanyaki is not good in general - please pay more and go for the real deal.

This popular spot close to the landmark bar area of Hengshan Lu has only grill-side sitting, so you're 100% sure you'll have your eyebrows burnt by flaming sake. Great ! Don't waste time over sushi and sashimi, head directly for their excellent grilled fish, prawns and scallops. If you're a large and loud crowd, you'll feel at home there on weekends, but make sure you book ahead.
Hahaha, Indeed, this place hasn't been a Tairyo for the last 2 years. Somehow they have managed to keep the listing under that name, but neither the restaurant or the menu use Tairyo name. Both CW & SMShanghai rely on random feeds and are seldom updated.. Even the menu is different from the legit Tairyo... Laowai trap...
