My neighborhood ahhhhhhhh. Yummy eggplant parmigiana, my favorite italian dish. Friendly service, and nice interior/exterior options.

We went as a group to Il Panino. Apart from the panini bread itself, the food is not good. And the panini bread is the only thing that saved the sandwiches. The filling was just average. We went there for lunch and they had a lunch special sandwich... I asked about it and they said that it has less filling inside, so it is less expensive. We wanted more filling so we paid more, but the filling was still not a lot. I wonder how much filling the les filling sandwiches have???

The pasta was average. The pizza was well below average.

Probably one of the worst I have been to so far - Pasta was just like one of those I had at "Babeila", except it costs 3-4 times more; it's not bad, but for that price, I expect something better. Pizza is again like one of those generic frozen pizza I make at home. The beef sandwich is even more ridiculous, all I found is a paper thin sliced beef with a some lettuce, etc... gosh... can't believe I spend over rmb300... sorry. Not gonna go back again for sure.

I went there many times. I like the people who don't like to do allways the same. This restaurant is changing every month, adding new things. The desserts, the promotions... I will continue checking the changes.

The other day I've been there with some friends. I was in Italy the last summer, and the food it's exactly the same. Maybe it's not too much, but enough to be full. About the service, my congratulations. I'm sure that I will come back. I recommend to taste the desserts, and the Camoranesi. I love salmon.

The name is misspelled. I should have been ILL PANINO.

Not a good value of money. Lack of oversight. Chinese manager is ignorant.

I went there for lunch today, raining. The décor is nice. A foreigner who seemed to be manager helped my with my umbrella that was all he did.

I order “roasted pork” panini. I ended up getting a cold panini with thick stacked of sliced cured ham (which was way too salty). I don’t mind eating ham, but I ordered roasted pork. I expected something like fresh pork, marinated and roasted or grilled or whatever. The Chinese female manager came and explained that the ham was made of pork. Oh …Yah!...as if I didn’t know. Now she made me felt I was uneducated.

I explained to her that the thick stack is “ham”, not roasted pork. She insisted that it was pork and proudly presented that it was imported from Italy. So I asked her for a menu and pointed out that roasted pork was not equal to ham (which also exists in other panini menu like parma ham). And again, she insisted that the ham was imported from Italy and she would bring the ham out to show me. What the @##% ?

It was 5 min talk , but felt like 30 minute, made me so…o…o…. tired . She finally asked if I wanted to change. So I changed to squared toast with ham and tuna. Here was my verdict on the new dish.

  • Thick stack of ham. Which is good (?) The answer is no… read along. (by the way, the ham slices are similar to my first dish but why do they call it roasted pork panini !?)
  • The toast is thin, less than 1 cm thick. When it combines with thick stack of ham, it’s ugly.
  • The tuna is oily. I think they used canned tuna in oil which is okay, but…... The oil actually dripping constantly on my plate.
  • There is some kind of yellow’ish sauce in the toast which again, way too….o…..o salty.
  • Salty sauce + salty ham + oily canned tuna +thin bread = disaster

Now you know how gross the RMB 45 is. I would love to go there again and give them the second chance. But given there are so many other good panini shop out there to try. I’m not gonna waste my time. Bye- bye “ill” – Panino.

Always a very good value for money; Il Panino has great deals for its fresh and authentic Italian food. Tomatoes and mozarella di buffala : yummy ! Rice balls : yummier !! This new venue has a great decor, and their small terrace above Wujiang Lu is a must-try.
