I just went out for a 2k run after lunch here, still stuffed, still have the "happy meat face" that I had after eating.
As a wise man said: this place would be a five star venue anywhere in the world. You owe it to yourself to have a meal here.

I may die of overeating, but if I do I will die content. Excellent food, service and venue. I'd write more but I need a little nap to sleep off the roast beef....
My second time here for buffet. This time for lunch. Excellent service and great selection of food. Everything was fresh and tasty. More restaurants and hotels should follow Shangri-la's style in terms of service and food quality. Keep it up!

Yes this is an excellent spot for gluttons. There is so much food and it is all expertly prepared and delicious. Went today and ate a bizarre but delectable assortment: naan, steamed vegetables, couscous, salad, brie, a little dim sum, sea bass, chocolate-dipped strawberries and the buffet's greatest feature: the ice cream "teppanyaki station," which is Coldstone Creamery style, but with much better ice cream.

Mrs Narsfs and I love this place so much that we decided to spend our many fives of RMB notes here for Christmas lunch. Long and the short: it was Super-Awesome (Sawesome).
Why? Well, where to start...
From the minute we walked in it was like we were coming home: we met a friendly member of staff at the door who took us upstairs and made sure we had good seats near to the seafood buffet, as he well knew Mrs Narsfs is allergic to not eating seafood.
The wine came thick and fast with the meal, a great choice of Australian red and white that paired well with everything on offer. The white was a great complement to the moist and flavourful turkey that was the understated centrepiece of the meal.
There was stollen, Christmas pudding, ham roll, Yorkshire Pudding, cranberry sauce, red wine sauce, roast potatoes, suckling pig, cabbage, sprouts, cauliflour cheese, stuffing...
...basically the only thing that was missing was the family argument. And the endless parade of new socks.
Joking aside, the service is hugely attentive without ever interfering in your meal, there's always someone on hand to make a recommendation about the dishes and the wine glasses seem to magically refill themselves.
Of course the bill for all this was 1300RMB, but there's really no better match of service and food quality in the city, so it's worth every wumao I can earn.

Simply put: Superb.
The food is amazing - an enormous selection of very fresh seafood, Indian cuisine, spaghetti, bread, cheese, fruit, desserts...
The mustard glazed beef was tender and melted delightfully in the mouth, the duck pancakes were light and full of flavour, the sushi was freshly made and slipped down a charm, the desserts were sinful and compelling.
The list goes on, but what you really need to know is that both the food and the service are among the best you will ever enjoy. A big hand must go to both Herr Hubert and newly-arrived Bernard who are both ultra-attentive, extremely well-informed and politely conversational.
Both gentleman were not only able to advise on great food combinations but also gave insightful cultural tips on a variety of subjects from housing decorations to cross-cultural domestic diplomacy and most importantly, the latest football scores.
The Hongqiao Marriott, with its poor selection of seafood, 10 unispired hot dishes, street-food quality kebabs, slow service on a quiet day and plastic-filled wine should take note: THIS is how it should be done.

been there many times. can actually say it's good value given the variety of selections, taste and service.

Value is a tough thing to define in Shanghai. Is a 300-kuai brunch buffet, featuring cuisines from around the world including fresh seafood and juicy carving table good value? Yes if you are hungry. The Yi Cafe has gone through a number of transformations but the brunch buffet remains a solid offering. The decor is modern luxury, in a sort of Las Vegas in Shanghai kind of feel. The food set-up is interesting if not slightly confusing. From the dessert table at the entrance to the Southeast Asia cuisines at the other end of the restaurant, one traverses numerous seating areas, a bar and a number of food stations, including an incredible fresh salad bar. First timers are well advised to walk around checking out all the offerings before digging in (so that they will not miss anything and get a little more hungry). Seafood here is some of the freshest around, including raw oysters, and shrimp cocktails. The Malaysian and Indian stations in the Southeast Asia area are authentic and the most aromatic in the whole place. The Naan bread and Saag Paneer are freshly made and delicious. The perfect meal starts with fresh fruits and a leafy salad. The second plate should consist of fresh seafood and sushi. Then one moves on to the heavier prime rib or Tandoori chicken or a variety of other delicacies in the Southeast Asia area. No meal is complete with a sample of dessert items including a selection of fruit sorbets. Buffet, plus drinks (coffee and freshly squeezed juices are extra), and a 15% service charge, total about 300 kuai.

Truly the best value/quality combo in all of Shanghai. They're consistently good. Since its opening, Yi Cafe has become one of our first choices for Shanghai dining venues.

Fantastically awesome! By far, the best buffet I have been to ever. Yummy food, fantastic service, and just the place I will take all my guests too if they have a big appetite!
