This small, airy cafe offers up coffee, salads, sandwiches, wraps and pizzas at great prices. Run by a former associate of Cotton Ding (of Cotton's fame), it's as good for a quick bite as it is for an afternoon of work on your laptop. They also do delivery within a limited area.

Cozy, cheap and yummy!

H2 is my favorite wifi hangout. The prices are extremely cheap and they even deliver for free! I love the vegetable salad sandwich. The baguette is fresh and crusty and comes loaded with veggies and a big unhealthy dose of mayo. It can get a little cramped during the lunch rush, but that's half the charm of this place..

Shanghai needs more places like h2 (short for “Happy Home”). Run by a former associate of Cotton Ding (of Cotton’s fame), it offers up quick, cheap Western-style eats in a comfortable, Wi-Fi equipped environment. The small menu includes four types of salads (garden, Caesar, greek and Cobb, RMB12-16), sandwiches and wraps (RMB14-18) and a selection of nine-inch pizzas (RMB24-28). Of these, the sandwiches and wraps are most consistently excellent. They’re not big but they’re done right and, unlike so many other Chinese-run cafes, they are light on sauce. Our favorite is the Caesar wrap (RMB18, add RMB4 for chicken) that comes in a lightly toasted shell. The spaghetti Bolognese (RMB20) is also solid, vaguely reminiscent of the dish you’d get at Hong Kong-style diners (not necessarily a bad thing in our books). The only things we’d stay away from are the limp pizzas. Otherwise, though, h2 is a solid option. Jazzy, lounge-y tunes and a satisfied mix of locals and foreigners alternately fill the 13-seat place with a quiet, warm vivacity, and it’s as good for a quick bite as it is for an afternoon on your laptop. Weekends are especially good: go in for the RMB18 brunch that includes a sandwich and a decently perky cup of coffee.[HTML_REMOVED] [HTML_REMOVED]Our rating: 4/5[HTML_REMOVED] [HTML_REMOVED] [HTML_REMOVED]Reviewed in July, 2011[HTML_REMOVED]
