Dissappointed. Food eitha half a ton salt used or no flavour at all, service was very good.

I like the break fast and i will go back again

ordered tofu wrap and omg I spitted it out as soon as I took a bite. no words can describe how awful the taste was. this was the second time I've tried element fresh, and will probably be my last.

Prices have gone up considerably. My two old faves, the laffa bread salad now goes for RMB 78 (used to be RMB 68) and the Cobb Salad is RMB 85 (formerly RMB 65). There's no smoothie under RMB 30. Most are around RMb 32-35 for the small glass. EF used to fill a much needed niche -- quality, service and healthy food all in the same restaurant. But I think there are many other places I would rather go to now if I want to spend north of RMB 100 for a salad and a juice/smoothie.

healthy food and big servings. However i feel that that it is quite pricey. a plate of salad cost about 70RMB? that's kinda a rip-off. but i must say the ingredients used are fresh especially the lettuces...i can feel the crunchiness in it. thumbs up for that. But i believe wagas has better salads and sandwiches and they are cheaper too! hoF has more desserts variety as well. EF you gotta pull up your socks.
Service was good. it's quite rare to have waiters can speak and understand English. and elementfresh is the place to be. i guess i won't be back again.
tried the ceasar salad.. it wasn't that bad.. large portion but was too costly for a salad.. the homestyle macaroni with mozzarella and parmesan wasnt that fantastic to be one of their best seller as it was just plain macaroni with cheese.. definately not worth what u are paying for.. otherwise the servicw staff was alright and the atmosphere wasnt that bad at all except for the lunch rush hour when it was too hard to find a seat... worth a try... but only once!

i was pleasantly greeted by friendly service staff, who spoke reasonably good english. we chose to sit at the alfresco, which was rather chilled and i would recommend it to anyone before the weather gets colder.
i ordered the handmade macaroni, which proved to be slightly disappointing. the salad (forgot the name) was reasonably goood.. loved the brie cheese ;)
ravioli was slightly too mushy.
got offered a membership card at the end, and i foresee myself and my husband going back! :)

i loooooooove element fresh. i think it's very reasonably priced compared to other restaurants in shanghai who jack up their menu prices for shitty quality and crappy tasting food. Their salads are by far the best in shanghai. The sandwiches are good too. The smoothies are either a hit or miss, so choose wisely. Their dessert menu might need a boost though..

I'm a 'power user' of EF, so it pains me to note that their delivery food quality is changing. Specifically the portions are getting smaller and smaller. I guess I'm not the only one to notice this! For instance, the humus used to be a practical feast for two, but now it's a snack for one. I called and asked about it, but I was told that their supplier counts out the carrot sticks now. Rubbish! EF is now selling stuff from second-party vendors, marking it up, and making more money, and that's their excuse? Airlines do the same for their food...
Also, has anyone ever order their slice of carrot cake? A small sliver of cake for 36rmb? Well, Wagas/Baker & Spice offers a pastry, a capuchino and the daily paper for 28RMB. HoF has infinitely more interesting desserts for less. Come on EF, you're getting way too greedy. You have us expats hostage here, and you're taking advantage. We have some choices, but we like your food and hate feeling ripped off. Shame on you, EF! Greedy greedy greedy!

The food here is fresh and filling. According to me this is one of the best restaurants in Shanghai. Good prices, great portions, tasty food. At breakfast, lunch or dinner time... it's always a satisfaction!
the salads used to be excellent, and really the only choice around.
however, a recent order (a) took 1.5 hours, (b) introduced us the wonderful world of salmon jerky (c) cost over 200 rmb.
can't rest on your laurels guys.

is a good atmosphere if the restaurant(any of) is not packed with people, the food is good, just nothing extraordinary for the price.

good food but its overpriced. sometimes its nice to go and overpay since it does have outdoor seating. beyond that...i dunno why i would go.

I dragged myself out of bed early this morning to try the breakfast at element fresh. It was my first time there, and why not then, to their very first outlet by the Portman Ritz. The location was great, perfect for a hearty breakfast before a long day of retail therapy; however the food was way overrated.
I ordered a Healthy Start breakfast, my friend the Salmon and Egg breakfast. The tomato juice can’t really be called juice, it should be renamed tomato chunks (clearly, they didn’t blend it too well). The main course itself was really bland, the omelette was practically tasteless, unless I added plenty of salt/pepper. The yoghurt was probably the most decent thing on the menu, just sweet enough and served in a porcelain bowl with a Chinese soup spoon.
My friend’s salmon omelette was okay, but they gave stingy portions of salmon. It included tomato and eggplant, and was served with regular coffee.
I think my experience at element fresh didn’t match up to my expectations of it. The food was decent, but not great like how they market or price its products. I won’t be visiting element fresh anytime soon.

This place is always packed during lunch time. But what’s the reason for it? ...I just can’t get it. I was very disappointed with the overpriced tasteless food and quite inattentive service.

Convenient location right next to City Shop (after your meal you can stock up on all your American-product needs). The hummus left a lot to be desired, it looked tasty but the flavors were bland and blah. The veggies on side were great and so was the pita bread--so fresh that it was still warm! Yum! The grilled eggplant sandwich with melted Italian diavolino cheese had a nice spicy kick to it and the bread was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, just how it should be.

Having a lot of dancing on my schedule, there is nothing better to recharge my batteries after a work out of salsa, bellydance or poledancing than with some tasty "energizers." One of my favorite places to relax and unwind is Origin. It's a new place on Taikang Lu and not far from the studio, so I can go there for lunch. It has a very peaceful atmosphere with the woody decor and little lights. Try the ice cream, and the crepe with Nutella. I also like Charmant. They have great Taiwanese style food. I recommend the chicken soup, it's simmered for a very long time and just bursts with flavor. Element Fresh is a bit pricey, but healthy and consistent. Go for the chicken salad or the spicy fish and the great juices.
Food at all locations are always consistent and good. However, I think the sandwiches is a bit boring and too much bread. Great salads, especially the Jap prawn salad! Dinner is not as exciting as lunch and I wish there is more variety. Breakfast is good and the items arrive steaming hot as it should be.

Great food We usually have breakfast or brunch here whenever we are in Shanghai. Excellent food and reasonable prices. Good service, can eat inside or out. Highly recommended.

Very good The food here is healthy and filling. The extensive menu of salads and sandwiches are delicious. They also have a whole menu of fresh juice and smoothies. My favorite is breakfast. You can get eggs, hashbrowns, bagels! Definitely find your way here. There are three locations in Shanghai.

Second Bite | Winter Fresh
New surprises await diners at this popular chain restaurant as unique autumn dishes now appear on the menu amongst long lasting favorites. Autumn offerings include a range of options, from new salads and pastas to grilled Wagyu steak. There's also a new look to evening dining as we found on a recent visit to the Shanghai Centre location. Daytime's stark white tables have been transformed with deep red runners, as well as candlelight and soft music which create an inviting and intimate atmosphere. For a starter, a shared warm spinach salad (RMB46) with caramelized apples, toasted almonds, bacon bits and a light sherry and fennel vinaigrette offered an appetizing combination of sweet, savory and crunchy--a meal in itself. A satisfying mixed seafood and vegetable (RMB68) dish, a new addition to the Asian sets, was loaded with shrimp, mushrooms and salmon cooked in a light oyster sauce with a bite of chili. Also new is a pumpkin penne (RMB58) that was rich, filling and very tasty, though a bit on the monochromatic side--perhaps a more generous garnish of greens could be added for more visual appeal. All in all, we were surprised and impressed by the quality and value of these new dishes. Peggy Rosen
