Contributor Description

Founded in February 2006, East West Theater (EWT) is a non-profit community theater group and one of the first, locally-based English theater groups in Shanghai. As a collaboration between Chinese and international actors, its prime objective is to provide a platform for western-style theater to be shared with the Shanghai arts and culture community.

While EWT boasts many Chinese and international professionals and strives to produce professional theater, it is also dedicated to fostering amateur talent. The troupe, in conjunction with its sister organization, Shanghai Actors Association, holds regular Acting Up! events, which include improvisation, standup comedy, dramatic monologues, staged readings and film. The company aims to have 4-6 performances a year; ranging from dramatic pieces to musicals.

I saw a EWT one act at Downstream Garage. It was great...keep things coming. Also it would be great if EWT updated their website.
