This Canadian pizza chain recently landed in Shanghai and shares a kitchen with Orchard CRC. Sadly, though, Sarpino’s and I Love Shanghai (upstairs) use the same lavatories–not ideal for a family-style restaurant. The menu offers the predictable pizza, pasta, salad and snack options; we tried the 10-inch Sicilian and vegetarian pizzas (both RMB58). The toppings were fresh and the medium-thick crust is fluffy and lightly browned on the bottom, but the overall taste is similar to Pizza Hut minus the Asiatic topping options. Their grilled chicken wings (RMB30) were safe but totally unremarkable, save for some gooeyness. Sarpino’s will have trouble given the growing array of pizza options about town.
