Just experimenting with the wall-to-wall. Write me back when you get this.

Thanks for the advice. As soon as I related the problem to another friend she called me a cooking noob and explained the concept of seasoning cast iron pans. I had never heard of that before but I've since seasoned mine and have seen no rusting at all.

Hi Sienna, I have a quick, China cooking related question for you. Where did you get your pans? I'm a student doing a summer internship here in Beijing and like to cook for myself when possible but I bought a pan from the local Wu-Mart the other day and it rusted after the first use. Any idea where I can get a simple non-stick or at least stainless steel pan? Thanks in advance, -Teddy

Just had lunch at a place called BaliThai, on the top floor of Raffles Center. Seriously, for me it was one of the best Thai food experiences in Beijing, and the satay was heeps better and more plentiful than any I've had in Beijing. The pork, beef, and chicken were equally juicy. Pad Thai too is always a good gauge for me at a Thai restaurant, as is the green curry, and they almost nailed them both (the Pad Thai was excellent, but the green curry lacked some of the depth it had the first time I was there). Really though, it was excellent food, I think good value for the money (sizeable portions to share), and somewhere I'll definitely return to. Sienna you should check it out at give it a write-up!

Hi Sienna!
We have a friend in common: Julia Furman. She's put in touch and exchange emails but not sure you received it. Anyway, I just happened to see you on this website and remembered she told me you worked for city weekend.
Let me know if you want to hang out in Beijing : ) Cheers!
Hey Sienna , your food reviews are great. I'm trying to find out if Max Levy's Radio is open. Phone number never works , and no one nearby knows the place. Have you been yet?
