Western Academy of Beijing (WAB) students follow the full International Baccalaureate Curriculum programs (PYP, MYP & DP) in a nurturing atmosphere that produces a strong sense of community among its 1,400 students from 58 countries. Founded in 1994, WAB fosters critical thinking and inquiry-based skills to ensure its students achieve their full potential as individuals and as members of the global community. Appreciation of Chinese culture is inculcated by placing emphasis on the language and interaction with the community. The school is organized into four school centers (Early Childhood Center, Elementary School, Middle School and High School), each self-contained to reflect the needs of each learning community, Nursery - Grade 12. Facilities are extensive and include libraries, IT labs, art studios, sports fields, gymnasiums, a fitness center, a swimming pool, climbing wall and an outdoor experiential education center. The school also provides a wireless, technology-focused learning environment, with a 1:1 laptop per student ration for all Grade 5 - 12 students.
