In keeping with its something-to-please everyone aesthetic, Tun offers budget drinks, as well as draft Stella and specialty cocktails. Monday night all cocktails are buy one get one free.

A Real Tun On

Tun Bar is difficult to describe both in terms of its location and composition. Tucked away in Cross Club’s rear parking lot, Tun has the initial feel of a mafia hideout, complete with a heavy padded front door and dimly-lit antechamber. Created by the nightlife moguls behind Nanjie, Tun shares its sister bar’s affordably priced drinks, with Qingdaos costing a mere ¥15 and a tray of 12 mini shooters available for ¥100. More refined drinkers can sip on a wide range of well-mixed “Girl Drinks” and specialty cocktails (¥25-35) or pints of Stella and Hoegaarden draught (¥35). With a massive projector screen that takes up an entire wall, an open pool table and dart board as well as a fortress-like DJ booth and upstairs lounging area, Tun is an odd mix of traditional wood-panelled sports bar, 1970s English gentleman’s club and sleek booty-shaking dance hall. In an area teeming with cheap, generic bars, Tun Bar distinguishes itself by offering something for everyone.

Both times we went, complete student crowd. So I guess if you are into that kind of scene, it's your place. Drinks were affordable and on ladies night, selected cocktails are free for the girls until the stroke of midnight.

waiters has personality is good thing, but just care about showing personality and did not care about your drinks is a turn off. Sound system so so. But we still had a good time, like their stage though where can allow one person stand on.

Wow, tuborg- you obviously don't know how to read! B/c I said in my original review that my guy friend took a sip out of my drink as we were leaving! He already paid for drinks before he took a sip out of mine, and either way we were on our way out and told the manager that. There is no reason for the manager to ever lay a finger on a customer! If there are customers starting a physical fight then get the bouncers to escort them out, but this was not the case with me and my friends. We were already on our way out and don't worry we won't be coming back!

Also, recently another friend of mine got into a fight at Tun, started by another group of guys for no reason! These guys outnumbered my one friend. My friend ended up having to go to the hospital to get treated for severe injuries. And of course Tun was of no help at all, they didn't even break up the fight. No matter who started it there should have been some sort of mediation and assistance if there is a customer who is injured!

This place is under horrendous management, the bartenders are incapable of handling crowds and the bouncers don't even break up fights. Everyone who works here is TUN-ed out of reality, oblivious to how to serve customers and don't know how to work or run a good food and beverage establishment!

Tun bar is a major disappointment. Despite mixed reviews for the bar, our group of 50+ people reserved the upper section of the bar for one night for all-you-can-eat appetizers and all-you-can-drink drinks. Unfortunately, we were greeted with only popcorn, tsingtaos, and very rude service people.

Beijing has a lot more to offer then out-of-tune-bar.

I enjoy going to this bar but they really have to sort out the problem of pickpockets and stupid number of things that get stolen from the punters.

I know at least 4 other people who have had bags or wallets taken from this place.

Last Friday I had a bag stolen containing my phone and all my documents that keep me in China (Visa, Passport, permits etc). My own fault I guess for not putting it in the cloak room but again, watch out because this place is full of thieves.

I just want to know why this place in particular has such a problem with this compared to other bars why the staff seem so unwilling to help or sort out the problem properly.

I understand bags should be put in the cloak room but I've found hands wandering into my pockets far too often when I'm in a particularly crowded spot.

Great place for fun but be careful

The place was once a good place for a typical night out with friends, but last time experience was the best as before. The staff were new ,and I had wait a long time before my drink arrived. The mojito wasnt done well for my friend, she didnt like it. The place also didnt have the crowd I have been used to whenever i visited earlier.

I went back there since the new management took over. I remember the last time I was there, I had a killer time.

But this time, I was welcomed with rude staff and poor service.

I would have thought the music being played would make up the terrible service but the DJ's didn't have a clue about how to mix music.

A real bad place. Don't go there people. It seems like the new management has ruined what was once a somewhat decent bar.

I was in Tun Bar yesterday with a bunch of people (more or less 30) and we do like it, the place is nice and the music not bad, but WE ARE NOT GOING BACK AGAIN. Yesterday 3 of us got something stolen (a mobile and 2 cameras) and other 3 saw someone trying to open their bags. I know of at least other 3 people with the same problem. We tried to tell the bartenders and the security, even to point the guys we saw, but they said that is not their business. In 7 months of going around in bars and clubs in Beijing no one ever between us got things stolen. So if you really can't live without going.. watch out!

We liked the environment here. Its like western place environment.

We could also see many foreigners. The drinks here is quite good price.

The music was liked by our group. We asked them to change to our choice and they changed it.

By the way, maybe the manager was rude because you were also rude. Remember the golden rule dear, "do unto other what you want others to do unto you" . I would say the guys at Tun are still cool and very nice even on a very tough night such as Ladies nite. Tun guys! Skol!

Girl you mentioned it yourself, your guy friend was sipping the drink and there was a sign abut it. Therefore, isn't it obvious! Duh! I guess it is only right for them to charge you! A smart girl like you would definitely understand that! Gils drink is for girls only. A guy finishing your drink is another story. Please when yu wrtie a review read it back 10 times before you finally publish it, you are caught trapped in your own words. And don't judge other people your behavior in your review is something that other people may think twice about! Duh!

Tun Bar's ladies nite is still the best among others. Of course, every bar has its own rules to keep things in control and not out of hand. Ladies drinks are definitely free but of course it is only for ladies. Charging men who get caught drinking ladies drink is only sane and reasonable. Hey common guys! It's called ladies nite. And their entrance fee of 20rmb is not bad at all as they give you a bottle of beer in return. Fair deal! It does not matter what kind of crowd it is as long as everyone is having fun in a humane manner. We are not to judge people but we are there to have fun. As long as there is respect with each other. Anyway, as far as Tun's events it still is the best in town.

to tiny13,

you like to play wording game to cover your deceptive manner is fine. please don't take any judgment for a individual person. it is not cool! and " Lady's night" is free for the female which is the most simple common knowledge; why u always mention you share a drink with your " guy" friend. in order to sever quick free drinks, tun bar have 2 bars section one is only do the free drinks another for the public. u say----" The bartenders don't know what they are doing. They would be making drink, in the middle stop to give some other frantic hand waving in their face a beer, then going back to my drink and completely forgetting what they were making." indeed the barman face to ladies crowd just try to hand out the free drinks as quick as they can.

This used to be one of my favorite new bars in Beijing. When it was run by Chad it was awesome and he really is responsible for the success of that place. It's really gone downhill since he left. On Friday nights ladies drink free till midnight brings about a young sloppy crowd. Be prepared for elbows in the face and riled up drunken girls swarming around trying to get as much free booze in their systems till midnight.

Last night was the first time I went back since Chad left and it was awful. Guys now have to pay 20 RMB at the door and they get a beer, which was never the case before. The music was all over the place and so were the people. What seems on the outside to be a happening spot is really a mosh pit of people piled up against each other coffin style. I took a girl friend of mine and my roommate who is a guy to this bar, figuring we could get in a few drinks before midnight. The bartenders don't know what they are doing. They would be making drink, in the middle stop to give some other frantic hand waving in their face a beer, then going back to my drink and completely forgetting what they were making. As we were about to leave my guy friend took a sip out of my drink and the Filipino manager rudely demands him to pay her 45 RMB. She then proceeded to try and man handle the three of us out of the bar herself. She pointed to the sign saying guys get charged 45 RMB if they drink or sip out of a girls glass. This is a ridiculous rule first off. Secondly my friend was just trying to help me finish my drink and had already bought a beer from the bar as any normal customer would. The manager was so rude and even tried to rip my drink out of my hand. We ended up in a screaming fest and left.

I will NEVER EVER go back to this bar. For a place that highly depends on volume this was not a smart move from the manager, three customers lost with nothing good to say about the place. It's such a shame that once such a fun place can be turned into such a trashy dump. With the free drink scheme I'm sure they will continue to be packed with the trashy inebriated crowd of young study abroad students and some older skeevy men. Good job Tun, you got your lowbrow target market and your manager fits right in with the way she treats them!

Ahh... what a hole this place is... But the drinks are good value, especially considering their different deals... Music is kinda all over the place and so is the crowd, so I guess that kind of works. Their staff is friendly and competent. I just prefer to go during the week, when it isnt so packed...

Their Long Island's should come with a surgeon general's warning. Friday's lady night is fun. The crowd is youngish with a few shady middle-aged men thrown in to give it that desperate meat market feel. I'd stereotype the crowd as English teachers/University students/and locals. Friendly warning: guard your pockets/valuables since every time I go here some acquaintance gets something pickpocketed (cellphone) or stolen (wallet).

If you're hungry they have passable bar food (i.e. krystal burgers).

The place has it's flaws but not a bad place to end up at 2am.

In the cheap-beer-10-kuai-shot-bar category, this is definitely the best one (not a feat very hard to achieve, one could argue, thinking of Nanjie/kai/shooters and its sleazy clientele). Even so, twice a week ladies night, weekly rock concerts, good djs, decent pool table and affordable drinks are not things that go easily ignored.

Unlike the other bars I mentioned, in spite of the cheap shots and beer, this is a place where people go to hang out and not get so drunk they are mentally and physically impaired.

First of all the prices and the quality of the drinks are far better than what you'd get at Nanje. Many times ive ordered a Mojito @ nanje that seemed weak (on the alcohol content) not to mention they are tiny! However the mojito's @ TUN are so big two of them will have you twisted and 4 might just knock you on your ass! Make sure you can lift a couple kilo's cuz they are HUGE!

The bar is very clean inside, and has many nice spots to steal if you get there soon enough! You get the upscale bar treatment without the nasty prices.

If you like Beer like I do you won't be disappointed they have a good selection and personally I can't go wrong drinking 60cilla liter stellas all night long for 30 quai.. thats what you pay for a little one @ nanje!

The only thing TUN is lacking is a few decent menu options for those of us who tend to get the munchies! But rumor has it they are working that out... Looking forward to munching on some food there in the near future!
I predict this place will soon be the new hotspot in Sanlitun!

It not only has potential to be one of the area's better venues, it is a better one. The combination of sports bar, lounge and dance hall seems at first a bit weird but it is realized well in this spacious warehouse location.
The prices and the quality of the drinks are similar to Nanjie or Kai Club, but served in a more sophisticated setting.

This is one of Beijing's newest bars and it has already been host to a number of events including sports banquets, awards nights, and football match viewings. The location is a little hidden, but if you wander around behind Salsa Caribe and the other bars clustered in San Li Tun Nan--you will find it. Tun is a large venue but the space seems less efficiently used than it could be. The downstairs is nice, but the upstairs reminds one of an airport lobby. The drinks are cheap and the feel is nice. It has potential to be one of the area's better venues.
