Absolutely delicious sushi and the best martinis I've ever had. The music is decent, but not much different from all the other bands that play in hotel bars.

The ambiance is perfect to relax on your own or have a long conversation with your date/friends.

Only downside: the service. It's a constant complaint in Beijing, yes, however, this is not a take-away in Sanlitun. This restaurant is in a 5 star hotel; step it up guys.

Fantastic in every respect: stellar mixed drinks (recommend the saketini). Great tempura. Excellent flown-in-fresh sushi and sashimi. Plus, they grate their own wasabi on a shark-skin board. Redmoon is an ideal spot for a business lunch or a dinner date.

And my rating is....3.5 (4.5 for the hardware; 3 for the food; 1 for service....does that make 3.5? Yes, it does.)

The good: - Very nice ambiance; a great relaxing place to have a drink with coworkers, friends, or a date - Pretty good Japanese food (Hatsune in Beijing and Haiku in Shanghai both have better Japanese food at cheaper prices, but it's still ok at Red Moon considering its a very nice place to hang out.)

The bad: - Plenty of old, fat white guys spreading cigar and cigarette smoke and staring at younger Chinese women. - On the expensive side - The service stinks for being an expensive restaurant (the staff is likely to forget your order, they are not very friendly, etc.)--really incredible how bad the service is considering that this is a 5-star hotel restaurant

The ambiance in this bar is great however you need to be OK with cigar and cigarette smoke. The decor is cosy chic and every time I go the place is busy. You will need to book if you want a table near the music. The Chinese/modern music mix by the quartet and singer is pleasant and sound levels mean you can still have a conversation while they play. Thee of us, 4 coffees, 2 Grappa a little over RMB400. I haven't tried the sushi... maybe next time.

Great place to have a relaxing drink, enjoying the live music.

This place IS chic, the ceiling gives you intimate atmosphere and the entrance is just WOW. It just suddenly reveals another place of the hotel and this is a 'bar bar' and not 'hotel bar', with lots of seating option from the fireplace, standing bar, private rooms and relaxing couch.

Perfect place as well if you want to escape with your date, the sushi menu is also nicely done.

I also love the snacks here, almost everything is spiced up with wasabi which just gives the right kicks!
