Definitely one of the best cocktail bar in the city thanks to the dedication of the owners.Just be aware of the objects thrown by the neighborhoods from the building close-by while complaining about the noise. A guy was unlucky enough to receive one of those flying rubber things on his head and the consequences were not as nice as the cocktails...

Great cocktails but a bit expensive. What I like about Q Bar is its location-- its enough off the beaten path that it attracts only those who really want to be there. The seating is great for intimate groups or even business chats.

Our apologies to all those that have had bad experiences at Q Bar. Thanks for the feedback. We're paying attention to all the comments and working hard to correct these things. Please drop by again, we think you'll find a lot of improvement.

Great bar for summer , you have a good view and feel the cool wind, but in this part of the year best avoid this place. We were there on last weekend and the place just didnt have a good vibe. Dead place.Drinks were just okay.
If this is the best cocktail in Beijing, I'm moving to Ulan Bator.
This place was deserted at 9pm on their much lauded martini nights. No mood music. No glamourous crowd. No buzz. We braved the elements outside to try to make the best of the evening. Dead silence except for the freezing crickets.
Then the confusion over our drinks. My client was only interested in having one glass for his night cap. At the door the staff confirmed it was 50% off each drinks. The menu then states that you will have to get the minimun of two glass (for the price of one). Imagine my shock when we were billed twice for a drink we didn't want in the first place. To their credit, their manager resolved the matter to our satisfaction but not before leaving a bad taste that marred our experience.
My client could barely taste the vodka in his martini which was strangely served with olives AND lemon. My Hendricks was weaker than baby formula. I've had far better ones at Blue Frog and Fubar at half the price.
I don't intend to return to be cramped into that smoky dingy bar this winter. Not for these drinks.

The wind and the cold didnt allow us to enjoy the patio they have. Inside the decor doesnt appeal to much . Drinks were good. Otherwise didnt get impressed.

Finally someone realized how important service is. The best bar in Beijing??? Of course not. Boaz, you said it...
This place is over rated. The problem is the owners don't care and they are not doing anything about it. That's Beijing business attitude - if you don't like it, someone else will like it. There are many people still come to the bar, so why bother? A "sorry" is the only one thing they can do.
Well, there are few great bars in Beijing provide very good service, go and look for them!

Went to Q Bar last week on a Martini Wednesday - and not planning on coming back there anytime in the near future. The place was quite full but not too crowded, and my friend and I got a nice table in the middle of the deck and started chatting while waiting for one of the waitresses to notice our existence. 15 minutes went by - but no one bothered to ask us what we'd like to order or clean the table (there were piles of empty glasses and food plates on it). We called out two different waitresses who passed by and told them we'd like to order, to which they replied they'll be back in a minute. They did not come back. After 30 minutes I gave up, went to the bar and tried to order our drinks straight from there. One of the barwomen told me she'll be right with me - and then left me there to dry for almost 10 minutes. Gave up again, went back to the deck, approached one of the boys that was just standing there and told him we would really like to get some drinks already. He took an order for two martinis and disappeared. 10 minutes later he strolls lazily past our table, with no drinks. We ask him what's up with our order, he says: "what order?" We then remind him we ordered two martinis, to which he replies we did no such thing, but hey, place your order now and you'll get it in about 5 minutes. We got up and left, stopping by the bar to ask what the hell is going on. A woman that identified herself as the bar manager listened to our story, said "sorry" and then turned around and went back to work. Please remind me why this is considered one of the best bars in Beijing.

crowded during summer. Avoid saturdays. Or book your table before you go It used be a such a pleasant place for me but no more, as the more people know the place . Average place now as these guys r stretched.Too many new waiters.?

What makes a good bar and a good bartender?
Good bar - Good drinks, good service, good deco etc.
Good bartender - Creative, flxable, good personality etc.
After dinner tonight, I suggested to go to Q Bar because I liked it, but I don't like it anymore.
(M - my, W - Waiter, M.F - My friend) M: Can I have a non-alcoholic frozen daiquri? W: No! M: Why? W: Because it needs liquor.
M.F: Where is the Corona we have ordered 20 mins ago? W: Let's me check, maybe because there are so many orders (ye xu tai duo jiu ya zhe le) (My friend has never got the corona.)
A Non-alcoholic Frozen Daiquri can be done, why? because it can be and everyone knows it doesn't take long to service a beer.
Waiters are not well trained, and whoever works behind the bar (was nominated as the best bartender) should have known when to service beer and should have given an apology. It makes me think twice why the service sucks and why people nominated someone is not good enough to be the best bartender. Things were better when Zhou was there.

I like it's interio and deco, creative, should be shoot in magazines. Drinks are ok, not much to pick on, but the environment is a big plus.

Best bar in Beijing hands down. Great selection of alcohol (whiskey) and the frozen lychee margarita is delicious. Love the atmosphere, especially the outside seating. I agree with 'parttimejobs', the music is way too loud there. It's not a dance club, turn the volume down! I'd always go to Q Bar if it wasn't for the wack, loud music.

Have been coming here for two years. Great in the summers, good year round.
The place needs a manager who understands that the volume of the music can be adjusted to fit the occasion. Blasting music at full volume at 7pm on weekdays when there are three couples in the place trying to talk is not a great idea. When the place is packed and loud, the music can be louder...

This is the place I would take my friends to after a visit of Lan.
Good drinks and nice Lounge music and Creative bartenders.
Good job!

One of Q Bar's top selling points is the deck. On a nice summer night the view is fantastic, the vibe great, and the drinks solid.
Well... during the winter its still a great destination, even without the deck. The interior bar has a cool atmosphere, with everything from cozy couches to barfly stools and decent standing room. On a crowded night, once it gets busy, it can get a little tight, but what bar doesn't have that problem?
The real draw, though, are the drinks. I contend that Q Bar serves some of the finest cocktails in town, and I'll put Echo up against any bartender I know when it comes to an old-school martini. Hers are the best, hands-down. I think I have a crush on her just for her skills with a shaker.
George is a great bar manager, and the two of them make everyone feel at home. The staff are efficient, polite and well-trained, and can all make top-notch drinks. This place has been on my Top 5 for awhile, but right now its sitting firmly in the #1 position...

Totally rocks

Been going here since it first opened. Over the last couple of months service and drinks have gotten gradually worse, which is disappointing as I initially enjoyed the atmosphere on the patio and have recommended it to friends looking for something different. Q Bar was good, but now there are better options in and outside Sanlitun. This bar really does not deserve the reputation it currently enjoys. Also, they seemed to have started to use the same music playlist as Rickshaw and Tun, meh.

I'm suspicious of any bar where the desserts are better than the cocktails.
The music is too loud to hold a conversation and its quality varies to almost bipolar levels. Nice terrace, though.
Basically it's a spot where the kids from sanlitun go to when they want to feel hip and classy.

good ideas for drinks and as good as it can get. but if asking for some hints/tips george and echo should not be so closed up, you can always stay the notch ahead

Nice place to sit down have a chat with friends while you are enjoying the best daiquiri in Beijing.

after having my own bar, I realize how difficult it is to run a night time business. So, George and Echo, great job!

Wasn't very good. Service was poor/rude. We had to argue for 10 minutes with the waiter because he made a mistake with the order and didn't want to lose face!
太烦人了!
If you want expensive drinks and nice decor, go to a hotel bar.
one of my fave bars in town. head for the bar seat, head for the outdoor, head for the other seats inside, or just standing and chatting with friends, theyre all fine. nice drink. nice music. nice ambiance there. the fuwuyuans are nice. so far never had problems with service either in busy or not busy time. i have listed q bar in my to-go-list a lot of times this summer for their terrace experience.

Great place to hangout and people watch, great drinks, okay service -- overall fantastic!

My favorite bar for a few cocktails. The cocktails are definitely worth the money, they are mixed like they should be and of course they use the real spirits. A couple of cocktails don't come in the right glass though, but what the f@#$. The atmosphere is very comfortable, when you are able to get one of the cushy couches or a seat on the rooftop. I think even the restrooms should be mentioned, the play in the premiere league, spacious, clean and matching the interior design. Another great thing about Q bar is that music is not too loud, as it is in so many other places. I was there last Sunday and it was really packed, but the service was quick and friendly, didn't need to wait long for the drinks.

I'm lowering my rating. Despite my stellar rating my recent visit to Qbar on a Thursday night when they were packed made me realize just how terrible their service is (I've only ever been when it's quiet). Unbelievably, my friend was told that she had to wait 30 minutes for her cosmopolitan, and I, if I wanted any consecutive-ness in my drinking had to order my drinks two at a time to ensure that I wouldn't be waiting 20 minutes for a simple gin and tonic. They need to step up or they're going to lose a lot of business.

I found the cocktails ok, but deco was something else though, red hot color and nice terrace, perfect for summer time. Now if only they have more cocktail tables inside would just be ABSOLUTELY great.

The cocktails are not as good as I expected! Just better than the other local bars like poachers, boys & girls...

Definitely one of my favorite bars in town. Great atmosphere, deeeelicious drinks, and to top it off, they have a rooftop, which is so key this time of year. Haven't tried their food yet but at the rate they're going, it's bound to be nothing less than stellar.

I recently tried some of Q bar's new food offerings and was very, very impressed. The yogurt with berries and wine reduction was fabulous, as were the chicken shish kabobs with avocado sauce, and the bagel plate. I am really looking forward to summer nights on Q bar's terrace, even more so now that there's more to eat than just peanuts.
I agree with the first reviewers : BEST COCKTAILS IN TOWN!! And the decor is very classy and comfortable.
I personally blame Echo and the rest of the fabulous bartenders for my current struggles with alcoholism.
;) (just kidding, really)

Definately nice design. I love the lamps above the bar:) Cocktails were all right but not as good as I expected them to be for the price of 50 RMB. Too bad but the place doesn't have a vibe, something is missing...

Parties have picked up at Q Bar as the weather gets better. Q Bar's 1st anniversary party on Jun 10 featured Jamaican BBQ and sunshine reggae vibes on the terrace by Upstepper Sound, and two more daytime bbq/music events are in the works: Sunday July 8 with Syndicate Drum & Bass crew Sunday July 22 with Upstepper Sound - Jamaican bbq, roots reggae. Entry is free, 4pm start

cute bar with nice vibe and good music :) i love their strawberry cairpirinhas. it's my favorite drink in beijing!

they don't mix a bad website either How often do they host parties? Or is it a chill cocktail place?

best cocktails and best location not only the best cocktails, also the best bartenders. it's really interesting to read something about echo and george on their website http://www.qbarbeijing.com. I really like them very much and I feel always very comfortable when one of them is mixing my next drink.

Best cocktails in town This place is indeed amazing for cocktails. Not only are the cocktails as various as tasty but, over and above, they look perfect. Echo and George mind every detail. Another good thing about Q Bar: it (still?) offers great value. Personal favorite: Long Island Ice Tea. You feel like chilling out while sipping on a great cocktail: Q Bar would be my recommendation.

The martinis could improve but I like the setting as it provides some space for conversation. You can have your group of friends to interact and your group can be to yourself.
