International SOS has 1 'dedicated' air ambulance at Capital International Airport, Beijing. However, in cases where more than one evacuations happen at the same time the company will charter additional aircrafts to meet requirements. Commercial airlines are also used to evacuate/repatriate more stable patients.
International SOS has 11 'dedicated' air ambulances within 10 hrs flight time from any locations worldwide. It is the only medical assistance company worldwide with this capability.
International SOS is NOT an insurance company. It is the world's leading provider of medical assistance, international healthcare and security services. It currently provides key health and security services to 88% of the Fortune Global 100 companies.
International SOS Beijing clinic provides international standard healthcare services, emergency patient stabilization capabilities and international pharmacy services.
This business has ONE plane to provide medical evacuations for the whole of China (fact). In any other country, selling this service with so little support would create unmanageable liability. Do not be comforted by this medical insurance scam, for if you need it, it most likely will not be there for you.
They do, however, provide the only real counseling (with legitimate psychologists) services in BJ.
I have been living in Beijing now for more than 2 years and have always been impressed by the great care and service standards from the medical staff at International SOS.
They are a truly international clinic with so many nationalities, and I can honestly say that I have received as good, if not better medical care from the GPs there. I have also seen two of their physios who have helped me immensely with back problems.
I would definitely recommend International SOS to others in the expat community, if high quality, international standard healthcare is what you seek.
