This outstanding restaurant offers phenomenal service and an ever evolving menu that embraces Mediterranean influences and world sensibilities, with top-quality ingredients like Tajima Wagyu 9+ beef. The wine list, while on the expensive side, is also extremely impressive.

Honestly I went to this restaurant because of all the great reviews and awards this restaurant has, but sorry to tell that there is something I don't understand, the night I had dinner was for me one of the worst experiences I had in Beijing restaurants I even finished my dinner at Luga's having some tacos. The menu is everything but attractive, looks like a steak house with so many types of beef, but no exciting dish. After a while of not knowing what to order, I chose the set menu which was just unflavored and presentation catastrophic. About desserts I really wonder if there is a pastry chef. Service extremely weak.

This restaurant was way out of my league. I am not accustom to such wonderful food and atmosphere. I am so happy that my girlfriend insisted we go here for her birthday. We were treated like kings. Our meals were amazing and the mojitos were the best I have ever had. Thanks to the chef and the servers for making an unforgettable birthday dinner for us.

We had an amazing time on Saturday at Aria! The food was the best we have had. Seriously, the +9 steak was to die for and yes the best steak in Beijing, the dessert was sublime and so creative, the foie gras were melt in your mouth delicious, and the cod and other dishes were perfect. We left confirming to each other that this was the best meal we have ever had. Last time when we came to Aria we were also equally impressed, and as a result I have been telling people I meet that Aria is my favorite restaurant. Well this dinner confirmed it completely. Also, the staff were so nice and Manager Matthew even gave us complimentary drinks at the bar afterwards. It really was a special night. I really appreciate the staff and manager making sure that we are satisfied with everything, giving us extras such as champagne, and it was great to have Chef Matthew also come and say hello. We felt special! Everything and everyone were so generous. We are very grateful for the night Aria gave us, and I will definitely be telling everyone about Aria and recommending it as the best food on offer. I really do find it to be the best in Beijing.

First try at Aria and i can recommend this Restaurant for all Western Food Lovers. Not cheap but every RMB worth. Thanks

I come to Beijing regularly, and have over the last two years been increasingly impressed with the new additions and high standards in the city's fine dining scene. On my last trip two weeks ago, I went with a friend to Aria Restaurant after reading a rave review posted on TripAdvisor, about their new chef Matthew McCool's. I can do nothing else except to fully agree with this person's review - I was well and totally blown away by the experience.
As a beef lover who will chase down the best cuts in whichever city I'm in, and I would say this beats what I've had at the Cru, the Cut or the Grange. Just head to Aria for the Wagyu 9+ tajima. I have never had meat this delicious that I can still vividly recall the taste, and how it literally melted in my mouth. It was beautifully presented, and served with small sprinkling of ground coffee powder that I could never have imagined would create such a beautiful contrast had I not tasted it for myself. Another memorable dish was the goat's cheese canneloni recommended by the wait staff that was an eye candy of a creation with yogurt and goats cheese piped into a light crispy pastry and dusted with oilve powder and black olive licourice. I was already feeling quite stuffed, but the cheesecake was so amazing that I finished every last bit on the dish.
The food experience would not have been as unforgettable had the service been anything less than impeccable, and the environment as warm and cozy. I had a sense of feeling very welcomed in this upscale, yet unpretentious restaurant. The service staff was very knowledgeable about the food, the wine pairing, and they spoke English incredibly well, which is very helpful for those of us who cannot comprehend the language of the Motherland. We couldn't have been more impressed. My friend is already planning to her next dinner party in Aria, and I will be back here to get my beef fix when I am next in Beijing.

Phenomenal. Outstanding. Excellent. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. I'm a frequent customer at Aria and I've never had anything less than an amazing meal there. The service is beyond great. Sweet hostesses, charming wait staff, and the management is always making sure you are getting nothing but the best. I definitely recommend the fish and chips.Absolutely delicious! I'd like to see this restaurant get the attention it deserves. Everyone should eat at Aria!

My wife and I had dinner here every night when we stayed in China World Hotel. Never known it's one of the Shangri-la's hotel until we got here. It's turely a 5 star hotel and staff here is very attentive. The food was so great that I can still remember it right now. My wife becomes a huge fan of Aria's chef Matthew after tasted exclusive Wagyu 9+ Sirloin. We will definitely go there again once we have chance to stay in Beijing,

Agreed. The new Australian chef prepared hands down one of the best meals I have ever enjoyed in my life. Kudos to Aria. This has become a brilliant, forward-thinking destination for quality Western dining in Beijing.

The new Australian Chef at Aria knows how to cook! The lamb shank on mash is to die for!!!

Always a great place to unwind after work. Sure its not cheap, but quality comes at a price. The only drawback is the fact that you have to leave nicely dim bar/restaurant, just to cross the lobby to get to the toilettes. Wine selection is good, although some prices are way too high for certain wines. Overall, still a great place to go on a fat wallet.

Had the minature 6 course set for a little over 500RMB. Went on a Sunday night at 9PM and was rather lively. The bar's nice as is the spiral wooden stair case you take up to the restaurant, but the decor itself up there is lacking. Looked like you can sit outside which seemed very pretty.
I really wanted to like the food, but it just seemed ho hum to me. The first course was a salad with some kind of seafood claw and a bitter little salad; that was ok. Second course was the same salad but with a fried cube thing of meat and foi gras... on top of the same white dressing from the previous course (sour cream and something else it seemed?). Third course was a clear broth with scallop, which was nice to cleanse the mouth after the heavily oiled and flavored salads. Fourth course was sliced beef and some asparagus- I was unimpressed with this as it just lacked any flavor. Fifth course was a platter of three cheeses and some bread... really can't go wrong with this as I love cheese! Final course was a beautiful chocolate sort of cake with chocolate flowing out and ice cream. It was nice, but there are nicer restaurants in Beijing. Sorry!

Went here for lunch. Great value for money with all the perks of a fine dining establishment. The smoked mackerel salad on their set menu was perfect and the service as expected was exemplary.
I will definately be coming back to try their dinner and dessert menu.

Disappointing experience at lunch today.
Poor service. Our drinks were refilled twice in 90 minutes and our salad plates were left on the table for far too long. Maybe if I had spoken English instead of Chinese...
My Pork Piccata was lifeless and soggy. The green beans tasted as if they had been recently defrosted. On the up side, my friend's lamb and ratatouille looked rather good. Desert was excellent and the wine pairing was decent.
Y158 lunch special includes starter, entree, desert, coffee or tea. Y228 gets you the above plus a glass of wine.
Underwhelming, especially for the price. But given it's reputation, I'm willing to give it a second chance. Maybe.

Happy Hour at ARIA, was fantastic, drink, drink and drink. Oh the player by the piano was great, good songs. Perfect for after work time.

Nice environment but food lack taste and surprise. I tried their tasting menu and was very dissapointed. Their Lunch menus were nice though. Will go back for lunch or Steaks.

Great place, the atmosphere just makes you want to step up the pace. Rich wine selection. Great desserts! Thumbs up!
Do try out the POWER lunch, worth the penny, everything is done and served up under 1 hour, leaving you plenty of time NOT to get back to the office and loiter around.
I do think I heard that Bruce Li of Centro have left the Aria Bar though, heard he is heading to somewhere new and exciting.
While there is not doubt Aria restaurant serves up some first class food and wine, until recently, the bar has not quite cut it. Not so now. The arrival of Bruce from Centro, an improved happy hour drinks selection, some great new cocktails, free tapas between 5.30 and 7pm, a decent bar snack menu and a pretty cool band are bringing in the crowds. A must try is the Wagyu beef burger - absolutely divine!! Well worth a visit now.

We, my husband and I, chose Aria to celebrate my husband's birthday. The food and service were excellent. We started with the goat cheese cannelloni which had a great blend of flavors, not too heavy and was delicious. We each had the Tajima tenderloin as our main and shared the sides, a tomato salad and potato gratin. I have heard people describe steak as melting in your mouth, but have not have the experience until this evening. The steak was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy, and complemented perfectly by the bordelais sauce. We finished the evening with a small cake they surprised us with in honor of my husband's birthday. We were helped by the sommelier to select wine to complement our dinner even though we only ordered a half carafe. Their staff is attentive and helpful without being overbearing. A fine dining experience is not just about the food, it is the atmosphere, the service, the plating and of course the cooking and Aria does succeed in all of these aspects.
We did have one setback and that was due to them not having all of their steaks available, which was quite a big disappointment. The manager stepped in and we were able to come to a resolution that was to everyone's satisfaction. Since their steaks are provided by exclusive and small farms, the next time I make a reservation I will make sure they have just received a new shipment. While this is not a place we can afford to go on a regular basis, it is on our list for future special occasions.
