All New: The Beijingologist's 2010 Subway Map

And it's here. With all station names finalized, Here you go! (in PDF form)

As soon as we know what the government's dreaming... ehh, thinking about next year's Subway plans, we'll stick it in the form of a 2011 map, ready for download in early January 2011. So far we are hearing nearly-confirmed un-rumours of Line 8 extending to Huilongguan Dongdajie (a stop north of Huoying, which will criss-cross with Line 13), bringing Line 8 a second interchange and serving more of northern suburban Beijing. Also, Line 9 will be in action as well, linking with the Fangshan Line at Guogongzhuang while only heading up north to the Beijing West Railway Station or environs. It will probably — or probably not — connect to Line 1 or lines further north. Finally, our Shunyi Hero, Line 15, will fully link up to central Shunyi in late 2011.

The plans for 2012 look nicer still. The Mentougou Maglev, remaining bits of Lines 9 and 10, as well as the brand-spankin' new Line 6 (from Haidian Wuluju to Caofang) will open. By 2015, Beijing will have 700+ km of Subway to toy around with (up from 561 km in previous plans).

With the new lines ready in just over a week's time, it's ready to get ready for your arrival. Enjoy the new Subway map and the new lines that will come!
