City Weekend says

With a cheap happy hour menu, plenty of TVs showing sports and a spacious upstairs, this classic expat bar and grill is home-away-from-home for sports fans and those after reasonably priced bar fare. Open 24 hours, The Den is also a fine spot for breakfast after late-night clubbing.

I went to The Den last night for Happy Hour and it was different from what they advertise. The pizzas are very small at 9". It's basically a personal pizza. I would NEVER pay full price for a personal pizza at RMB 60-80, that's insane. I admit the pizza was good but people writing reviews say they are huge, they must own the place or work there.

The 1/2 off drinks is a ploy to get you there. They aren't even half off and the only Happy Hour drinks are the draft beers.

Will I go back? Probably not.

Great happy hours , nice pizza . My girlfriend ordered a soup which turned out to be good than what we get in most western restaurants in Beijing. The garlic bread other eats go well with with my carlsberg draught beer. I love the service too.

Happy hour prices are great, sports coverage is good and the servers are nice. However, after dark the place starts to attract a more businessman-type crowd.

Went there after a long time. I love the happy hour pricing. The service was pretty fast unlike the past reviewer. The 2nd or 3rd round of beers came real fast. The pizzas tasted better than Annies or a common pizza. The were real good. French fries are yum too here. Served hot in windy weather , this is one of my favourite place.

Went there for happy hour last night. Waited half an hour for pizzas. When they arrived, I asked for them to be boxed because I was now late. Then, I was told I had to pay full price instead of happy hour price if the pizza was to go. In short, we were overcharged and the manager still refused to provide a fapiao. The happy hour is a good deal on the rare occasion you don't get overcharged. But with better options in the neighborhood that treat their customers with respect, there is little reason to go back here.

I went for happy hour pizza and beers and found it to be a GREAT value. The fuwuyuans were very attentive and service was fast which is always a particularly big plus for me anywhere in China. I think its a great place to relax and watch some sports, although for a sports bar I felt it could have used a few more screens inside. I'd love to come back and see how this place is like later at night.

I'm not fan of sports, otherwise I'd go there often.

This place has changed a lot in this recently. What I like about this place is its clean and the waitstaff are very attentive and smiling. Yes the washrooms are clean.Right prices, happy hour ,decent pizzas, convenient location.

The eats have improved.Though no stellar reason to visit, there are many small reasons to go here and specially if there is a sports event you can count things to work here (all tvs will work)and you will get a place, and there will be a good crowd that you can cheer together with.

It's nothing fancy, but this is a solid sports bar with great prices. The Hoegaardens are enormous, and I like the RMB25 bottled Australian beers. The burgers are also pretty decent. The crowd here is like 95% male, but it just makes it more relaxed. And the toilets ARE clean, or maybe that's just because no one uses the ladies room...

Unless you are after music or live entertainment or a quiet bar, then this is the place to get good drinks at cheap prices. An eclectic mix of patrons, expats and Chinese locals. As a sports bar it can get noisy, but it is always friendly. Good service, friendly staff and happy hour lasts til 10pm. Guinness costs 30 RMB during happy hour, 50 thereafter, same with Strongbow cider. Carlsberg is cheapest at 15 RMB and 30 RMB respectively. Cocktails are not the best in town, but the food is good and reasonably priced. Free WiFi, clean western style toilets and open 24/7

Good sports bar.The place is clean , and I love clean places. The staff polite, and attentive. The Guinees beer was fresh and good. The pizza and fries came in time.It was nice and we went for the burger and some more food and more beer and just liked this place. Been here before but I guess they have changed quite a lot.

This place invariably seems to be busy, day or night, so they're obviously doing something right. Whether it's the half price pizza and most* drinks (foreign draught inc Guiness reduced price) happy hour until 10pm, the variety of sports shown on the multiple TV's, honest (read not fake) pour drinks, the friendly staff, comfort food on the menu, not-so comfy sofa's, good lighting, dodgy doormen, or home of the Danish and Scandinavian sports fan in Beijing I'm not sure.

Personally I like it for the buzz, discount drinks and the cheap and consistent simple meals like steak and ale pie with mash potato, or steak and chips.

Their upstairs used to be a great place to go after regular bar hours to meet people from 'across town' who would wait 'til 6am for the subway to re-open, unless you could persuade them somewhere more comfortable to wait! It changed from a 'disco' to a stark white-tiled bar some years ago, but that was a failure and short-lived. It is now a mere extension of downstairs with a good round bar and more TV screens.

It is a popular place for out of town business-men and as such there is a small collective of 'out of town buziness ladies' who stop by in between shifts during the dead of night.

Did I mention the staff, very friendly if you're happy to spend money. Like so many places, they don't appreciate people using it as a bus-stop. They always seem to have a smile for me.

The Den used to be a good place to go after partying, coz they are open 24h. But now, if you wanna eat something, you MUST order something to drink, so stupid. They shouldn't call theirselves as "Bar and Restaurant" then. They do charge for water and the drinks are quite expensive out of Happy hour time. They charge 20RMB for 1 coke can. And the service isn't good at all. So... it isn't a good place if you wanna only eat nor if u are looking for a peaceful and cheap place. Until they don't change this stupid rule, I won't go back there.

I found the food delicous, although I have to admit, I can't remember the last time I ate there sober. Staff has always been friendly to me, and although it is not cheap (and the drinks really aren't that good) as one of the few 24 hour places that offers both real food and drinks it's ok.

This is a great place to watch sporting events and the service is good. The downside is that I find the food is terrible, anything deep fried tastes like re-used fish oil. Even food that is not deep fried, is not that great. Both my wife and I were not impressed at all. The tap beer is reasonably priced, but tastes like the taps haven't been cleaned in years. A cold Tsingdao off the street for 2.5 rmb tastes much better then anything they offer on tap. Their imported beer is very good and reasonably priced. That's about it, I wish I could say something better. In my opinion it's not worth the trip with all the other choices of restaurants in Beijing.

This is one of my favourite place where you can watch some sports live action.

Food is available which is fine for appetite may not be great grub.

Also not to mention this place one can meet sportscrazy people and its good to talk to them.

It's not as an extensive beer list as I'd expected, but a full, raucous crowd seems to be always on hand for the sporting events. It's nice to see that even on two levels, a television is within view to catch what's happening during a game.

This place has been transformed over the last 6 months or so into quite a pleasant sports bar.

This is a great place to go to watch major sports events.

The regular drinks are very reasonable, especially during happy hour, and the food is far better than it used to be. The pizzas are well worth a try.

A busy and pleasant sports bar full of expats. Great place to watch the F1 GP or any other major sporting event. They have a lunch meal deal for RMB 40 including a choice of drinks. During happy hour a Kilkenny will only cost you RMB 30. Regular drinks prices are reasonable: Shooters RMB 30, Whiskies 25, a glass of local wine 30, juices 30, coffee 20-25 and a glass of port (nip) 25. Although I didn’t eat (will next time) however looking at the menu there is a wide range of meals that average RMB 35 and a pizza with cost you RMB 50. The décor is typical sports bar with football jerseys, sporting trophies adorning the walls and the obligatory big screen TV’s... and they tune into channels with English commentary.
